Welcome to the world-class region.

Everyone's heard the stereotype: it's all cowboys, cactus and cattle. While those Texas roots are strong, Houston will surprise you with everything it has to offer. The ten-county region is the largest city not only in Texas, but the whole Southern United States. Here the grass is green, landscaping is lush and the tree canopy is thick and widespread. It's the perfect mix of Southern greenery and urban sophistication. Known as the Bayou City, the Houston metro area—the sixth largest in the nation—is criss-crossed by a number of bayous, many of them flowing into Buffalo Bayou, the site of the city's birthplace in the downtown area.

Welcome Letters

Bridgeland® Receive Eight Awards. The Woodlands® Takes Home “Master Planned Community of the Year”

The Woodlands and Cypress, TX (October 16, 2015) – The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) announced today that its two Houston master planned communities -The Woodlands® and Bridgeland® - garnered nine prestigious awards at the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Annual Gala held on Saturday, October 3, 2015. The GHBA hosts its Houston’s Best PRISM Awards competition each year to identify the real estate industry’s top builders, developers and marketers. Upon entering, contestants are evaluated, judged and ultimately selected by industry professionals from across the U.S.

“The Howard Hughes Corporation is honored to be recognized for The Woodlands and Bridgeland, two of its best-selling, master planned communities in Texas,” said Paul Layne, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “Through our marketing efforts, we wanted to reflect the excellent standards of The Woodlands and Bridgeland by presenting only the finest products to current and future residents and to the businesses and institutions located in these communities.”

The Woodlands was recognized as “Master Planned Community of the Year,” the GHBA’s most coveted award. Located 27 miles north of downtown Houston, The Woodlands is a 28,000-acre, forested community and has been recognized as one of the top selling master planned communities in Texas and the nation. Throughout its 41-year history, The Woodlands has led the way among master planned communities that practice environmental preservation. Of the 28,000 acres in The Woodlands, 7,235 acres are now devoted to green space in over 130 parks, more than 200 miles of hike and bike trails, seven championship golf courses and greenbelts. Nearly 8,000 acres (28%) will remain undeveloped green space at build-out.

Nearly 2,000 businesses and corporations have found a home in The Woodlands. A total of 32.5 million square feet of commercial, retail, industrial, and institutional development are here, providing jobs for more than 58,000 people. The newest development is Hughes Landing®, a 66-acre mixed use development, situated on the eastern shores of Lake Woodlands.

Bridgeland was recognized in several developer categories including “Best TV Commercial,” “Best Event of the Year,” “Best Brochure,” “Best Marketing Campaign,” “Best Print Ad,” “Best Interactive Point of Sale,” and “Best Website” as well as the “Grand Award Promotion” which recognizes the developer who won the most categories for their advertising efforts.

Bridgeland is the largest housing development in northwest Houston who thrives on its balance between nature and mixed-use development. The community has dedicated over 3,000 acres to lakes, trails and parks while also offering on-site schools with a new multi-campus educational village being developed; places of worship including the upcoming Houston’s First Baptist Church campus; the highly-anticipated Lakeland Village Center; social activities; and recreational outlets.

Bridgeland is also designed to preserve, enhance and restore the natural environment with existing lakes and creeks incorporated into the development as unique amenities including the enhancement of Cypress Creek Corridor where 300 species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians seek refuge. The area’s natural amenities are combined with a carefully planned system of community parks and activity centers, such as Lakeland Activity Center, where residents enjoy a lap pool, tower slides and a 6,000-square-foot community center.
